Event objective:
The AI landscape is evolving at a rapid pace, and the changes it induces are impacting both our professional and personal lives. While there is no consensus on the need (or possibility) of curbing AI innovation, there is a shared concern in Europe about the need to create trustworthy AI.
The aim of this event, organised under the auspices of the Belgian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, is to enable researchers and citizens to take ownership of this specifically European approach: AI that respects values such as social inclusion, energy saving and cultural plurality.
The choice of these three values enables us to address the concerns expressed by our societies when it comes to the changes brought about by AI. The concern, for example, of disruptions in the labour market from which some would find themselves excluded. A lack of understanding of the energy implications of data storage and algorithm training. Finally, in the case of generative AI, the awareness that the Internet is not a representative library of our societies and our differences, either in Europe or worldwide.

- 14:00-15:30: Presentations by researchers on the various technical, ethical and legal dimensions of AI
