TRAIL4Wallonia
Context
TRAIL4WALLONIA, Strategic Innovation Initiative, aims at excellence in Artificial Intelligence by federating the whole Walloon ecosystem (R&D, training, companies) to seize the opportunities of today and tomorrow.
This IIS sets out TRAIL’s positioning, in the context of Wallonia’s intelligent specialisation, with regard to the challenges and opportunities offered by Artificial Intelligence at regional and European level. It constitutes the roadmap for mobilising actions and projects that will enable Wallonia and its economic fabric to be better impacted while contributing to the European and international influence of Walloon know-how.
Short Description
Following the European approach, TRAIL4Wallonia defines an action plan to address 5 challenges:
- Collaborate to innovate through research excellence and applied and collaborative projects to serve business;
- Facilitate the adoption of AI on a large scale, notably by providing key resources and infrastructures for testing and validation;
- Promote access to data and to mature technology bricks through the TRAIL Factory;
- Train and create the talent needed for the Walloon ecosystem;
- Impose a Walloon leadership around the TRAIL Institute by defining a scientific strategy, concentrating the means and mobilising all the actors in the domain.
Beyond ARIAC by Digital Wallonia, TRAIL4Collab aims to increase its maturity in order to offer technological foundations closer to the market. TRAIL4SME aims to conduct research for companies to accelerate their digital transformation and facilitate the adoption of AI.
The TRAIL Factory is a unique entry point to Walloon excellence in AI with a market place offering access to mature and documented technological building blocks, a network of experts and researchers, and a place for exchanges of best practices, detection of needs and connection between research and the economic world.
TRAIL4Europe aims to create a network of excellence at European level, including the exchange of researchers, while stimulating the participation of Walloon actors in the various European programmes.
Various training programmes to meet the needs for talent, whether through continuing education or social promotion, will be implemented through TRAIL4Talents. A training offer for companies, both for awareness and appropriation of the technology, is also being considered. En parallèle, il s’agira d’intensifier les démarches et initiatives de la stratégie DigitalWallonia4.ai.
